Renovation and Redevelopment of Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, Accra

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Our most recent project completed is the Renovation and Redevelopment of Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in Accra. The Core Assignment on this project as a heritage and monumental site, was to develop restoration strategy to preserve all artifacts and structural elements, with redevelopment of additional structures to give it a facelift.

The original structures that received restoration works are:

a. the Museum: the original basement type museum including its artifacts were restores to near new. This also include an external extension building wrapped around the Museum to serve as an Audio-visual Gallery.

b. Restoration of the Mausoleum

c. Restoration and redevelopment of the Old Water Fountain with a Control room.

d. Restoration of the V.I.P. Building and the Old Gift shop.

e. Restoration and Conversion of the Old Administration building to Commercialized Conference rooms.

f. Renovated Landscape, Curbs and Footpaths.

The Additional Newly developed facilities are :

a. The Receptive Facility Building that houses the

i). the new Administration Unit for staff,

ii). A 200 capacity reception hall,

iii). Kwame Nkrumah Library

iv). A Restaurant and Bar

v). New Gift shops

vi). Washrooms for both Male and Female.

b. A new Amphitheatre facility building with an 80 – 100 seated capacity.

c. A Snack Bar to support the Renovated Recreational Park.
